Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Dip Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: roling Air Temperature: 17 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: cloud Max Speed: Distance Covered:
On the water around 11am with a few others out with ~5.5m. Forecast to get
stronger so rigged 5.2m and it was perfect. Sea was nice with rollers and
not too much chop. Had a great hour riding in and out and only fell in
once! Came in a couple of times to flatten the sail then bit the bullet and
changed down to 4.7m for another hour and half. Sea was getting bigger but
still not too choppy and one of the best seas I've seen for that wind in
Felixstowe. Coming in down some steep rollers was fantastic with great
speed, but GPS broke so who knows what??. Someone counted 16 windsurfers
out and a few kiters too. Some nice gybes, a few falls, and a few close
calls; one where I dodged someone fallen in near shore and a strong gust
blew me downwind so I almost hit a pole at the end of a breakwater; mast
hit the pole but apart form a small rip in the luff seems OK.
Great to see so many out and some great rides out and in. I tried my new
76l/53cm and it sails a lot smaller than the 87l. Wind had decreased after
the rain when I tried it, and with my weight needs to be well powered up;
next time. Eventually sea got more messy as it neared high tide, and as I
was tired with a cold I packed in before something broke. Excellent day
